Lucky Eight Syndicate

The Breckon Farms – Lucky Eight Syndicate is the eleventh such syndicate established by Ken and Karen Breckon of Breckon Farms and officially commenced on the 1st October 2023

All fillies made good early progress, with an amazing seven of the eight having raced as 2-year-olds and five having won as 2-year-olds. They have also achieved a Group 1 placing (Pretty In Pink), a Group 2 placing (Won And Only) and a NZ Record (Ocean Eyes) – certainly a great achievement in their first season of racing.

Most fillies went on to race as 3-year-olds.

The 3-year-old racing in the 2025 season started with a bang, with Luby's Luck winning first-up in an unofficial (hand timed) NZ Record Time.

Six of the original eight fillies went on to win races and another is a multiple placegetter.

One filly was retired early on and the seven remaining have now joined her, for various reasons.

Winners included OCEAN EYES (2:03.3, 4 wins, 5 placings, $74,427) who set a NZ Record for 2YO Trotting Fillies over 2200m from a Stand, WON AND ONLY (1:54.6, 3 wins, 3 placings, $48,386) who was Group 2 placed before being retired due to injury, PRETTY IN PINK (2:01.1, 2 wins, 9 placings, $48,520) who has been Group 1 and Group 3 placed, HOT AND DANGEROUS (1:57.3, 1 win, 2 placings, from just 6 starts, $23,053) also retired due to injury, LUBY'S LUCK (1 win, $17,420) who set an unofficial NZ Record for 3YO Trotting Fillies over 2000m from a Stand and later retired, TWISTED SISTER (1:58.5, 1 win from just 2 starts, $9,150) also being retired due to injury.
