Breckon breeds winners in three countries

Breckon Farms bred and reared winners in three different countries last week.

In New Zealand, The Jolly Roger (Always B Miki-Ice Imperial) and Ferdinand (What The Hill-Fear Factor) both saluted at Cambridge Raceway and Nothing But You (Captaintreacherous-Bubbled Up) won at Addington.

Meanwhile in Australia, Zlato (A Rocknroll Dance-Callmemaybe) notched his sixth success at Gloucester Park and I’m Harvey Specter (Art Major Delightful Dale) scored a last-stride win at Wagga (NSW).

To round out a top week, Major Hot (Art Major-Hothooves) took a new lifetime record of 1:50.4 winning at Plainridge Park, Massachusetts.

After settling down near the tail, Nothing But You mounted a probing three-wide run at the 800 metre mark before exploding to the lead in the latter stages. The four-year-old mare has now won three races and $62,776 in stakes.

The Jolly Roger, a four-year-old gelding, enjoyed the box-seat trail behind the leader before taking full advantage of the passing lane to register his sixth success. He has earned just shy of $100,000.

Nothing But You and The Jolly Roger were both sold by Breckon Farms at the 2023 NZB National Yearling Sale at Karaka for $80,000 and $60,000 respectively.

Ferdinand, a six-year-old trotting gelding, settled down near last and was spotting the leaders a conservative 40 metres at one stage. However, the gelding gradually improved his position during the final lap and eventually won by 1-3/4 lengths.

Ferdinand has won three of his seven appearances to date.
