Breckon Farms Welcomes First Foals of the Season

Breckon Farms is buzzing with excitement as the first foals of the 2025 season have arrived - and with them, a special milestone!

The very first foal born this season is also the first-ever Tactical Approach foal to be born in New Zealand, a strong and lively colt out of Luby Ann, foaled at 5.30am on August 27. This marks an exciting moment not only for Breckon Farms but for the broader harness racing community in New Zealand.

Just days later, our latest arrival made his debut - a striking Sweet Lou colt out of Carpen Dior, born on September 3. Both foals are thriving and enjoying their first days of life on the farm.

“We let them out yesterday and they’re ripping and tearing around. They're loving life at the moment!” said Farm Manager Nigel Fhay.

Breckon Farms will foal down 50 foals this season, with two healthy colts already on the ground and 48 still to come. The team is thrilled with how things have begun and are looking forward to what’s ahead.

Looking ahead on the breeding front, Luby Ann will be bred back to Tactical Approach and Carpen Dior is heading to Woodland's Bettor’s Delight.

Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds. It’s shaping up to be an exciting few months at Breckon Farms!
