The Breckon Farms bred and raised trotter Lovemeto tuned up for the Brisbane Inter-Dominion Championships with a typical tradesmanlike performance in beating a top Free-for-all field at Melton on Saturday (June 13).
Starting from the outside No. 7 gate, the What The Hill gelding was caught out on a limb four deep in the early part before assuming control at the bell. He was never again headed.
The gelding rated 1:55.6 for 1720 metres.
He has now won 10 races and $225,124 in stakes.
Lovemeto is one of six winners left by the grand Love You mare Love Ya Doosie, a daughter of dual NZ Broodmare of the Year Sheezadoosie.
One night earlier, Zlato (A Rocknroll Dance-Callmemaybe) led for the last two laps to score an impressive win in intermediate grade at Gloucester Park.
The six-year-old gelding rated 2:00.5 for 2130 metres and was completely untroubled to peel off his last 800 in 57.9 seconds.
It was his fifth success and improved his lifetime earnings to $66,628.
Zlato was knocked down for $21,000 at the NZB National Yearling Sale at Karaka in 2021.
The Breckon Farms bred Mr President (Sweet Lou-Affairs Of State) led for the last two laps and staved off all challengers to win his eighth race at Invercargill on Thursday (June 11).
He has now banked $116,876.
A half-brother to five winners including the NZ Sales Graduate Series victor Chachingchaching, Mr President realised $17,500 at the same sale as Zlato was sold.
