A Lone Star Lyell Creek Stakes win confirms what those closest to him have known for a while - this horse belongs at the top.
Breckon bred Meant To Be showed he is now one of the 'big boys', taking out the Gr.2 Lone Star Lyell Creek Stakes just a few months after turning four on Friday evening.
Driver Zachary Butcher was quick to share the credit. "Barry and Scotty and their team have done a great job with him and I am the lucky one who just gets to jump behind him for a few minutes on race night."
Meant To Be is already a multiple Group 1 winner and has now earned more than $530,000 in prizemoney. He was sold through our Auckland session yearling draft for $145,000 to Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan Racing Stables - connections who have done an outstanding job bringing him through the grades.
His dam Luby Lou is a New Zealand Trotting Derby winner by the great Muscle Hill.
