Oaks success for Our Col

Our Col, a three-year-old filly bred, raised and sold by Breckon Farms, was a convincing winner of the Group 3 $45,625 Northern Trotting Oaks at Alexandra Park last Friday (May 22).
Starting from the outside gate, the Father Patrick filly worked to the front 600 metres after the mobile barrier despatched the field and was never again seriously tested.
She eventually won under a hold by three lengths, rating 2:00.2 for 2200 metres with the last 800 in a sharp 57.9 seconds and the final 400 in 27.6.
Our Col has now won four of her six starts for $95,658, a worthwhile return on the $27,500 paid for her at the NZB National Yearling Sale at Karaka in 2024.
She is the second foal of the four-win Muscle Hill mare Cheeky Babe, a sister-in-blood to the 2025 Rowe Cup and dual Inter Dominion heat winner Bet N Win.
One night earlier at Cambridge Raceway, Tactical Approach (Tactical Landing-Classic Armbro) won his second race from just five outings.
In Australia, the Breckon Farms bred Rumble Strip (Bettor’s Delight-Diamond Lace) and the trotter Regal Attire (Muscle Hill-Regal Volo) won at Gloucester Park and Globe Derby Park respectively.
Rumble Strip has won his last three on end and eight of his 18 starts in Western Australia, while Regal Attire overcame a 30 metre handicap to notch his 25th success. He has banked more than $260,000.
In North America, Never Say Never (Bettor’s Delight-Maid In Splendour) won again in 1:59 at Bangor Raceway, Maine.
