The What The Hill gelding Lovemeto, who was bred, raised and sold by Breckon Farms, was a very impressive winner of a second round heat of the Inter Dominion Trotting Championship at Albion Park on Saturday (July 11).
Forced to race without cover for the first lap, the six-year-old speared to the front with a lap to go and was never in danger of defeat, winning eventually by four metres in a 1:56.4 rating for 2138 metres.
Lovemeto has now won 11 races and $241,774 in stakes.
He is out of the Love You mare Love Ya Doosie, a half-sister to the 2012 Inter Dominion champion I Can Doosit.
Lovemeto will be one of the leading fancies for the Group 1 $500,000 Grand Final at Albion Park next Saturday night.
One night earlier, the Breckon bred three-year-old Ringleader (Always B Miki-Delightful Kas) completed back-to-back successes at Addington.
Settling down in sixth position, the gelding was angled three wide approaching the bell to take up the running. He tramped his last 800 metres in 57.4 seconds to win with something in reserve.
At Alexandra Park, the Father Patrick four-year-old gelding Illicit Love, who was bred and is part-owned by Breckon Farms, came from midfield to register his fourth lifetime success.
The winner of over $80,000, Illicit Love is from the winning Muscle Hill mare Cheeky Babe, a sister-in-blood to last year’s NZ Trotter Of the Year, Rowe Cup hero and dual Interdom heat victor Bet N Win.
Cheeky Babe, the winner of four of her five starts, also ranks as the dam of this year’s Trotters Oaks winner Our Col.
