Higher Power Proves His Class in Fiskens Anzac Cup

Youth was well and truly served at Alexandra Park when Higher Power turned the Fiskens Anzac Cup into a statement - beating some of New Zealand's most seasoned trotters to claim Group 1 glory at just four years old.

The win was made all the more special by the man holding the reins. Harry Orange, one of harness racing's bright young talents, steered Higher Power to a one-length victory to claim his first Group 1 as a driver.

For Breckon Farms, it was a moment that ran deeper than a race result.

It goes back to his dam, High Gait. A four-time Group 1 winner in her own right, High Gait has now made transition from champion racehorse to champion broodmare.

Higher Power is her second Group 1-winning progeny, following High Energy's victory in the 2022 Group 1 Ace of Hearts 2YO Mobile Trot at Alexandra Park - a win that came with a New Zealand record for two-year-old trotting fillies.

Higher Power was offered through the Breckon Farms 2023 Karaka Yearling Draft, where he was purchased for $120,000 by Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan.
