WAIKATO BAY OF PLENTY HARNESS EVENTS

The Waikato Bay Of Plenty Harness Club, like all others in the country, are well through their 2018/19 season, but the team at Cambridge Raceway have been busy planning for the remaining months of the season, together with the launching of an online booking system for Members to use to reserve tables in both the Skyline Lounge and new Champions Public Bar (previously the Alf Walsh Lounge) at all of their upcoming race meetings.

Over recent weeks Cambridge Raceway have also been working on the refurbishment of the bar area in the Alf Walsh Lounge and this will be re-branded as the Champions Public Bar, with an official launch set for their 28th April race meeting.

Upcoming race night events include Team Day on the 28th April, Crack Up Quiz Night on the 16th May and Lads Night At The Races on the 6th June.

Cambridge Raceway has also announced the launch of two non-racing events – Faulty Towers and a Casino Night fundraiser.

The Faulty Towers Dinner Show is scheduled for the 13th June and is promoted as an evening in which to get lost in the mayhem and chaos and to maybe leave thinking that your own relationships are possibly not that bad after all. Basil, Sybil and Manuel will give you a side-splitting night of humour as they skilfully bring you into their crazy personal lives. Add some riveting dance moves from Basil, Sybil and Manuel, spiced up with their improvisation from quirky, cheeky and just plain fun conversations. The only thing they cannot guarantee is that you will not catch their superbug Fitsalaughter. The ticket price is $80.00pp, with a discounted Members price of $75.00pp, that includes a two course buffet dinner with a cash bar available. Click here to book

The Casino Night is to be held on the 13th July. The ground level lounge will be transformed into the Casino Royal. Tickets include finger food, either a glass of wine or a beer on arrival, $1 million funny money to use on the casino games and a live band. All funds raised will go to improvements to the Alf Walsh / Champions Public Bar Lounge. Tickets are priced at $40.00 and further details can be obtained by emailing:- [email protected]

Cambridge Raceway is also launching a new menu in the Skyline Lounge. The refurbished Skyline Lounge offers the best view of the racing action, along with a fully stocked bar, full TAB facilities, TV monitors and superior dining. The new menu includes several different options to choose from including beef sirloin, fish cakes, pulled lamb burger, a roast vegetable dish, etc. You can click on this link to view the menu in full:- https://www.cambridgeraceway.co.nz/page/race-night-dining/

Oncourse there is also the Luxury Liner Diner which offers more traditional race day fare, such as great burgers, hotdogs, chips, sausage rolls and homemade treats.

If it’s just a coffee you want, there is a little coffee hut that is host to qualified baristas on race nights, with the little hole in the wall pumping out the perfect coffee or you might even prefer a good old-fashioned milkshake, which are also available.

All-in-all there is plenty on offer to satisfy all taste buds and if you are a member of the Waikato Bay Of Plenty Harness Club, there is the members jackpot for a $200 betting voucher, where if you are on course, members automatically are in the draw to win the jackpot. The winning name is announced by the on-course commentator Aaron White after Race 5 each race night or race day, but the winning member must be on course and claim the prize within 10 minutes of the announcement or it will jackpot to the next race meeting.

So, why don’t you get along to one of the upcoming events, or even just venture along on a race night or race day and experience the excitement of harness racing.

The Cambridge Raceway is on Taylor Street, close by to the heart of Cambridge township itself and there are 22 race dates for the 2018/19 season, so there is plenty of opportunity to do so. If you wish to obtain further information, you can call the Club on (07) 827-5506
