What a night at Albion Park! Under the bright lights of one of Australia’s premier harness racing stages, Breckon Farms graduates flew the flag with pride.
Group 1 glory was the headline act, as Rubira stormed to victory in the Ladbrokes Queensland Derby, cementing his status as one of the brightest young stars on both sides of the Tasman. It marks the second consecutive year Breckon has bred and co-owned the winner of this Group 1 feature.
Rubira’s quality was evident from the very beginning. He won his first three starts in impressive fashion, including the Group 1 Diamond Creek Farm 2YO Classic and Group 2 Kindergarten Stakes. Bred from the Bettor’s Delight mare Delightful Kas, he was offered through our 2023 NZB Standardbred Yearling Sale draft, where he was purchased for $45,000 by Phil and Glenys Kennard.
The heart of a champion was on full display from Bet N Win, who delivered an almighty effort to finish 2nd in the $A500,000 Interdominion Trotting Final. The son of Factor The Odds (by What The Hill) has been a standout performer this season, winning his two heats leading into the final and previously claiming Group 1 honours in the Reharvest Rowe Cup. Sold for $32,500 to David White, Bet N Win has given us all a thrilling ride.
And rounding out the night, Major Hot - last year’s Queensland Derby winner - finished 2nd in the Group 3 4YO Championship. Another graduate of the Breckon draft, this son of Hothooves (by Art Major) sold for $95,000 to Kennard Bloodstock.
We couldn’t be prouder of the performances from these Breckon bred horses and the talented, passionate people behind them.
