I CAN DOOSIT has traded his Broodmare Girlfriends for some 2YO Trotters at The Dickies

Breckon Farms are delighted to announce that 2011 & 2012 Inter Dominion Trotting champion I CAN DOOSIT is an official four legged Ambassador for the 2019 IRT Inter Dominions which kick off this Friday night at Alexandra Park.

Ken and Karen Breckon of Breckon Farms are proud sponsors of Alexandra Park and the Inter Dominion series. They are delighted to be able to extend their involvement by making their own Inter Dominion Champion available to support the series off the track.

The winner of 36 races and over $1.4million in stakes, “Lucky” is an integral part of the Breckon Farms story.

Bred by Ken and Karen out of their 7 win race mare SHEEZADOOSIE, the son of Muscles Yankee caused them a few headaches.

The strapping colt was yearling sales bound, with the Breckon's eyeing up a likely sizeable return on investment when he went through the ring. With well performed siblings including SNO'S BIG BOY the colt had attracted Australasian wide interest. It wasn't meant to be. A few weeks prior to auction day the horse that would be come known as Lucky, had a paddock accident severely damaging a hind leg.

Given the best medical treatment available and ample time to recover the Breckon's patience and faith was rewarded when the then 3YO qualified at Motukarakara in the hands of Blair Orange for Mark Purdon in April 2009. He went on to win on three occasions over the next six weeks, showing that first glimmer that he was just a little bit special. His first Group success came almost a year to the day since he qualified in the 2010 Grp 3 4YO Trotters Championship held at Addington.

Lucky by name, he indeed turned out to be very lucky for Ken & Karen providing them with some special ownership milestones over his 55 start career. The list of accolades is extensive and includes; back to back Inter Dominion Trotting titles (2011 & 2012)
A Group 1 Trotting Free For All - Group 1 Dominion Cup Week Double, an 18 in a row winning streak and back to back Group 1 Rowe Cups.

To know how special he is, just mention his name to Ken, Karen, Mark Purdon or his right hand man Jeremy Markham and you’ll be greeted with mile wide smiles and superlatives en masse.

When Mark Purdon was asked about I Can Doosit recently his face lit up "oh he was a very very special horse, what a journey he took us on, he was very good to me"

Mark will be making time during his hectic Inter Dominions schedule to work with Alexandra Park and Breckon Farms to be reunited with Lucky for a special media opportunity.

Lucky was retired in 2013 in an official ceremony on New Years Eve at Alexandra Park. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed a new role as King of the Farm at the Breckon's 250 acre property.

His days are spent surrounded by his “girlfriends”, members of the elite broodmare band that reside at Breckon Farms. A farm favourite, it's mandatory for visitors to the Ohaupo property to pay homage to the Champion. He'll be waiting at the gate ready for scratches.

In preparation for his #ID19 Ambassador role he’s left the girls behind in Ohaupo and is currently based in Auckland on "fitness camp"

The horse's well-being is most important to the Breckon Farms team so to prepare him mentally and physically for the excitement of being back at the races he has made his way north to the Clevedon training property of John and Joshua Dickie.

Despite having a barn full of their own (and visiting Aussie) Inter Dominion contenders, they have taken the time to prepare him for his busy social schedule over the next three weeks.

Preparers of champion trotters such as Flying Isa and Speeding Spur, the Breckon Farms team take comfort that under John Dickies expert eye Lucky will be safely and considerately prepared for his race night guest appearances.

Not only will Lucky lead out the 2019 IRT Inter Dominion Trotting final he will help to showcase the Inter Dominions to the media in the lead up and highlight Life After Racing and how special these animals are to their owners, trainers & breeders alike.

Stay tuned to follow his progress on the road back to #1D19 and for announcements on when you can meet the great lad on Facebook and Instagram @BreckonFarms
